Modernization of the Vidin-Sofia railway line, Medkovets-Sratsimir railway section, Dabova Mahala-Sratsimir, 31 km
Project Description
This section forms part of the high-speed railway line that will connect Bulgaria to Western Romania and Greece. The 31 km section we are constructing aims to bring the railway network in Southeast Europe up to technical standards. The line is being completely renewed with new railway infrastructure, catenary systems, signaling, and control equipment. After modernization, trains will reach speeds of 160 km/h for passenger transport and 120 km/h for freight transport. Works include 1 bridge, 6 viaducts, 19 culverts, 4 crossings, 2 siphons, 3 new station buildings, 2 new train stops, and the Sratsimir control center. This investment is of strategic importance for the economic development of northwestern Bulgaria and its integration with the European railway network.
