Scope of Contract
Position 1 within the Sofia - Plovdiv Railway Line Modernization: Elin Pelin - Kostenets Railway Line Modernization from Km 22+554 to Km 42+200
Project Description
The 19.65 km Elin Pelin-Vakarel Railway Line connecting Sofia to Plovdiv is designed for 160 km/h passenger trains and 120 km/h freight trains. A total of 7.67 km of the line consists of 2 double-tube tunnels built using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM), which will become Bulgaria's longest railway tunnel upon completion. Outside the tunnels, the project includes 7 bridges, 2 overpasses, and 700 m of noise barriers in residential areas. Main quantities: 1,667,966 m³ excavation; 787,238 m³ fill; 52,255 m³ concrete; 8,796 tons of steel. The project also includes a new Elin Pelin station building and Pobit Kamak station, along with signaling and video surveillance systems for the 19.65 km line.
